Fraud Risk Audit Fundamentals
Financial auditing guidance for fraud risk assessment—eight modules from hypothesis framing to file-ready evidence packs.
What you will be able to do
- Draft a fraud risk matrix tied to specific cycles, not generic lists
- Run a red-flag walkthrough with a documented “why not” column
- Assemble an evidence pack another auditor can re-perform
- State sampling and data limitations without softening the conclusion
- Brief a senior on residual risk using restrained language

Modules
Eight steps through the fraud risk file
-
Hypothesis before checklist
Write fraud hypotheses in plain language and map them to assertions before opening a canned program.
-
Cycle selection under time pressure
Decide which cycles deserve depth when the budget allows only two intensive areas.
-
Red-flag walkthrough design
Interview structure, observation notes, and the required “why not tested” column.
-
Data extracts that survive challenge
Requesting complete populations, reconciling totals, and documenting exclusions.
-
Sampling with honest limits
Attribute vs. monetary unit choices, and language that does not overclaim from small samples.
-
Evidence pack assembly
Index, cross-refs, and what a reviewer needs to re-perform without asking you.
-
Residual risk briefing
Scripts for partner and board conversations that keep tone proportional to evidence.
-
Capstone file critique
Peer review of a full mini-file using anonymized Korean manufacturing and retail scenarios.
Learner notes
Module 3’s walkthrough template is now our house standard. Capstone feedback was blunt—in a good way.
Strong on documentation habits. The data extract module assumes you can get IT help within a week—which our smaller clients sometimes cannot.
FAQ
Who is this for?
Assurance seniors, internal auditors, and risk staff who already know basic audit flow and want sharper fraud risk documentation.
Is this a forensic investigation course?
No. We teach risk assessment and audit documentation. We do not train covert investigations or litigation support.
What is a real limitation of this program?
Scenario packs cannot mirror every industry’s ERP quirks. Teams in highly specialized sectors (e.g., crypto exchanges) will still need firm-specific addenda after the course.
Language of instruction?
Materials and live sessions are in English, with Korean-context examples throughout.
